Senior Housing Inspector - Compliance
City of Winnipeg

  1. What is your current job title and which area do you cover?
My official title is Senior Housing Inspector – Compliance. I am also the Acting Assistant Chief Housing Inspector at this time. My area is the entire City of Winnipeg.
  2. How long have you worked with in the industry?
I started in construction right after graduating high school about 19 years ago and have been a housing inspector for 7 years.
  3. How long have you been a member of MBOA?
I have been a member for just over 7 years now.
  4. Why did you become a member of the MBOA?
To keep informed on the ever-changing industry, take advantage of training/education and networking.
  5. What do you love most about being a building inspector?
That no day is quite the same as the other. Always a new challenge or issue to deal with.
  6. Has becoming a member of the MBOA helped you in your career?
Yes. The seminars, training and tradeshows help keep me up to date and always learning something new.
  7. Do you have any mentors in your professional life?
Yes. Many of the inspectors when I first started helped teach me the ropes as well as a few different supervisors over the years.
  8. What is your favourite hobby or leisure activity?
Well, drinking beer probably doesn’t count as a hobby so I would have to go with slo-pitch ball in the summer and cross-country skiing for winter.
  9. What is your favourite sports team?
Winnipeg Jets (minus the 4-game sweep by the Canadiens, lol)
  10. What is something unique or something we may not about you that people in the MBOA might find interesting?
I enjoy growing a vegetable garden in the summer and kite-board occasionally.
