My official title is Building Safety Manager. I manage a team of 8 inspectors and we cover residential and commercial inspections as well as complaints that deal with building safety and property issues.
I took my first job as Building Official in Estevan, Saskatchewan in February of 2006, so I have been an inspector for 15 years.
I have been a member of MBOA since 2013.
Being a member of MBOA is the best way to connect with other professionals within the trade and stay apprised of the changing trends in the construction and inspection industries.
The best part of the job is the interactions I have with people of various professions, from trades workers, developers, engineers, architects and other building professionals, including inspectors. The conversations I have are never boring, and every day presents a new and interesting challenge.
Yes. I have gained a wealth of knowledge from training sessions and seminars that MBOA hosts. Holding a position on the board of directors has opened doors to a world of opportunities including professional practices to general knowledge and discussing the future of the inspection profession. The members of the Board of directors have always made themselves available to help with challenges our office faces.
I have many mentors in my professional life. Specifically, my former manager Greg Merke has provided me with many lessons and tools to use to be an effective inspector and team leader.
My favourite leisure activity is to spend time with my wife. We have an office that is equipped with gaming computers and together we embark on many adventures as we seek to save the galaxy from evil forces!
As a Saskatchewan boy, my favourite sports team has always been, and always will be the Saskatchewan Roughriders.
I am a huge nerd. I love Star Wars, Star Trek, Transformers, Masters of the Universe, Lego and video games. I have a collection of vintage action figures that I proudly display in my the office where my wife and I play video games on our computers.Mur
