  1. What is your current job title and which area do you cover?
    Compliance Officer/Building Inspector with Brandon and Area Planning
  1. How long have you worked with in the industry?
    I have 12 years industry experience to date.
  1. How long have you been a member of MBOA?
    I’ve been a member since January of 2022
  1. Why did you become a member of the MBOA?
    To keep up on the fore front of code changes and building requirements, as well as access to resources I normally wouldn’t have in industry.
  1. What do you love most about being a building inspector?
    I get to witness new construction and techniques, applied in a real world scenario, which helps me stay current in my trade. As well you get to experience multiple different styles and magnitudes of projects you normally wouldn’t come across working for one company or employer.
  1. Has becoming a member of the MBOA helped you in your career?
    It has given me a better understanding of local by-laws, how they were intended to be employed, as well as a better understanding of the permit process and application. It truly helps drive home the importance of a well established, functioning Planning department.
  1. Do you have any mentors in your professional life?
    My old instructor and colleagues from A.C.C. have been a great help, as well as the wonderful folks at Planning and Building with The city of Brandon.  
  1. What is your favourite hobby or leisure activity?
    Hunting and fishing
  1. What is your favourite sports team?
    New Zealand All Blacks
     
  2. What is something unique or something we may not about you that people in the MBOA might find interesting?
    Prior to becoming a Building official, I had the opportunity to teach Carpentry for Assiniboine Community College during the pandemic. I go to work alongside my former instructors that taught me when I originally went through the program.
