Development Officer/Building Inspector for Neepawa and Area Planning District

  1. How long have you worked with in the industry?

10 Years to date in Construction. Red Seal Journeyperson in Carpentry

  1. How long have you been a member of MBOA?

I became a member as of April 2022

  1. Why did you become a member of the MBOA? 

To learn about how different districts and areas handle issues and to meet many new people

  1. What do you love most about being a building inspector?

To help other people that may not know they are doing something wrong and the process to try and correct procedures.

  1. Has becoming a member of the MBOA helped you in your career?

It has helped give me a better understanding of by-laws and many other topics that I previously had no knowledge on.

  1. Do you have any mentors in your professional life?

My uncle Doug Gunnarson who taught me many different aspects of the carpentry trade and how to operate various pieces of equipment. Jeff Braun who is currently been a large help in teaching me and guiding me threw the many processes and understanding of what it takes to be a development officer/Building Inspector.

  1. What is your favourite hobby or leisure activity?

Golfing/Gardening/Fishing in the summer, Building snowmen with my daughter in the winter

  1. What is your favourite sports team?

Not a huge sports fan but if I had to choose it would be Edmonton Eskimos

  1. What is something unique or something we may not about you that people in the MBOA might find interesting

Prior to becoming a building official, I had the pleasure of learning/constructing bridges in the provinces of Manitoba and Saskatchewan. Even after becoming a building official, I still help friends/family/previous coworkers with projects that they have going on.
